Del Aire

Del Aire is a census designated place in Los Angeles County, CA, located next to the interchange where the I-405 and I-105 intersect. Surrounded by the cities of El Segundo, Hawthorne, and Los Angeles, Del Aire has an ideal central location that puts residents only around 20 miles to downtown LA and 3.6 miles to the Los Angeles International Airport.

Del Aire is an urban community of 10,000 residents with an average age of 34 years and a median household income that’s higher than the California and the United States averages.

The population is highly diverse, representing a wide mix of ethnicities. The Del Aire Neighborhood Association leads residents in keeping the community one of the most sought-after in the Los Angeles metropolitan area.

History

As with the rest of the South Bay region, Del Aire was part of the expansive Spanish ranchos that dominated the area in the 1800s. The region was largely agricultural until the early 1900s, when the Los Angeles railroad was introduced. Del Aire and its surrounding communities gradually urbanized as more and more people took up residence here, particularly in the years following WWII.

Real Estate and Property Types

Single-family homes dominate the housing stock in Del Aire, but there are also a number of condos and apartments. About 60% of the residents own their homes, staying at an average of 15 years in the same property.

While homes for sale are generally priced higher than in other California neighborhoods, rent is lower than in most of the state.

More than 90% of the homes in Del Aire were built from the 1940s to the 1960s in the traditional Ranch style, making the community a nostalgic showcase of mid-20th century Americana. In the 2000s, there was a spike in new home construction, including a number of new condos and multi-family properties.

With Del Aire’s established neighborhoods and tranquil vibe amid one of the busiest metropolitan areas in the country, homes for sale in this community are highly in-demand.
