Redondo Beach

One of Los Angeles County’s “Beach Cities,” Redondo Beach delivers the sunny Pacific Coast lifestyle to approximately 67,800 residents. South Redondo comprises the beachfront area, while North Redondo is located inland, adjacent to neighboring cities, Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach.

History

Redondo Beach was officially incorporated in 1892.

The opening of Hotel Redondo spurred the former Rancho San Pedro land toward its growth as an independent city. It provided traders brought in by train or steamship with a reliable and enjoyable place to stay. The hotel featured more than 200 rooms, lush landscaping, an 18-hole golf course, and a number of tennis courts. The amenities provided ample recreation and entertainment for businessmen visiting Los Angeles County’s first port for oil and lumber trade. The hotel was demolished in 1925.

With an appealing reputation as a sunny resort town, Redondo Beach continued to attract tourists throughout the early 20th century and enjoyed a significant population boom during the 1950s and 1960s.

Real Estate and Property Types

Redondo Beach homes for sale are some of the most inviting coastal city residences one can find on the West Coast.

Find large, estate-type single-family homes with at least 4 bedrooms and generous yard space in this city’s sunny neighborhoods. Combinations of the traditional Spanish/Mediterranean and Contemporary custom building styles provide a unique flair to these beach community homes.

Many higher-end options include spacious second-floor balconies that allow homeowners to enjoy the Southern California sun without having to leave the house.

There are also plenty of Redondo Beach condos for sale that provide an easier means to get one foot into the door of this irresistible housing market. Townhouse, co-op, and multi-family residential units are also available. While smaller and more affordable than single-family houses, these options are designed to capture the genuine spirit of South Bay luxury living.
